There’s nothing like the smell of fresh baked pastries in the morning. Oh, the bread, toasts, cookies, rolls, and muffins – their succulent scents waft to your nose and say it’s time for breakfast.
For the masses of people who adore the delicacies of the “patisserie universe”, you have to indulge in a bite of bagels. Our bet is that you’ll find yourself chomping through everything the menu has to offer.
Meet Shady and Sherif Abaza, two brothers returning from the United States, with bagel recipes to die for.

So, why call their delicious company Bagel Brothers? Well, it turns out that Shady and Sherif share more than just a last name. The DNA test results are in, and yes… they are indeed brothers.
But that’s not all, you’ll be excited to learn that the gentlemen are actually NIS alumni! That’s right, Shady and Sherif belong to the Class of ’09 and the Class of ’11, respectively.
After graduating, the brothers left to the US for their studies, where Shady attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, USA, then to Mount Saint Vincent University (MSV) in Canada. Sherif had different desires, and took off to Aviation Sciences in New York to become a commercial pilot, and came back to Egypt to be an airline pilot. Sherif, however, reveres to business, and decides to take on a similar path with his brother to make this company happen. And thank God they did, because otherwise, we’d be dreaming of their bagels instead of eating them from breakfast, lunch, and everything in between.

VCU’s Monroe Park campus
Having lived abroad, these guys ate bagels for breakfast for years! One day, after returning to Egypt, they were in the Zamalek area and were excited to find a bagel joint. That excitement waned, however, after their first bite. That is not what a bagel should taste like! Shady and Sherif were not going to be quiet about this. No, they took matters into their own hand. They took out cookbooks, spell books, and everything they could find in efforts of conjuring the perfect bagel; and, indeed they did. [Thanks, guys, we love your food]
Happily, for the students and staff, they debuted their business by partnering with the NIS school administration, who agreed to host their culinary genius on campus.
Amazingly, it took only two weeks to set up, and open the place in NIS’s American New Cairo branch. The brothers have already made plans to expand to the Sherouk campus.
What’s amazing about the Bagel Brothers is that they use the freshest ingredients and still keep their product affordable. Most of their foodstuff is purchased at EgySwiss [tah ya Misr!], and ensures the best quality for bagels in the country.
With their overwhelming success on campus, of course they’re considering to open outside the walls of NIS. They’ve been to several places including Waterway, el-Gouna, el-Sahel, and Diplo, but have yet to decide where to open their first establishment.
Here is the menu in case any of you are considering to try a bite of what might possibly become your favorite snack.
