The NIS Sherouk campus held its annual Book Fair from 25 – 27 of September at the American school’s playground. Hundreds of fantastic books filled the premises, giving students, parents, and faculty the chance to find something of their interest.
Mr. Tamer Abdullah, Head of Libraries at NIS, organized the book fair under the close supervision and encouragement of Dr. Fadia Atef, the NIS Superintendent. It aimed to bring books within reach for the students, encourage them to read, and to introduce new publishing houses to the school.
The AUC Press, AUC Bookstore, Dar El Sherouk, EMCO Marketing and Kidredz were present at the book fair. Abdullah arranged for buyers to enjoy a discount, which reached up to 20%, on any purchase made during the three-day event. Furthermore, the school also benefited by receiving new books from exhibitors as a percentage from their total sales.
“We want to encourage reading as early as possible in the year,” explained Middle and High School Principal, Dr. Heather Browne.
The book fair allowed students to go together, in groups, and apply their reading skills; reinforcing the appreciation for books at all ages.
Rumors has it that another book fair will be held at the First Settlement campus; students will have to wait and see!
