Nothing is more important than hygiene and NIS takes the matter very seriously! For that exact reason, the elementary division held Hygiene Day on October 4 . This initiative is used to instill in their minds the importance cleanliness of washing their hands, brushing their teeth and taking a shower; it is imperative that these steps become part of their daily routine.
According to Elementary School Vice Principal, Ms. Yomna Abdel Latif, students were introduced to hygiene during morning lines and classes from September 30 building up until October 4.
We told the students that it is very important to stay clean all the time, to avoid lice, and unnecessary diseases. We [also] told them to wash their hands all the time, take showers, change their socks, brush their teeth, and wash [and] brush their hair; all the works.
On Hygiene Day the student were given sticky notes to show their understanding of the what they had learned. Each student wrote how they planned to stay clean and how they would contribute to Hygiene Day. Their sticky notes were hung on the board outside the classrooms and served as a reminder to keep their promise as they saw what they had written.
The elementary division took the opportunity to encourage and remind children of the importance of hygiene. By teaching them the basics steps at a young age, they keep using them throughout their lives.
NIS, being their second home, ensured that students understood the importance of personal cleanliness and that of their surroundings. By keeping themselves and their school clean, NIS aims to support them in carrying out a clean and bright future!
