Some people dream about goals… the NIS Eagles score them!
Football season has officially started and the excitement is taking over the players and their supporters.
The Eagles had their first match of the season during the second week of October. It was a friendly match against their rival team, Manor House at the Sodic field in 6 October. The Eagles faced their opponents head-on and soared to a remarkable victory!
The NIS Eagles and Manor House are not just any rivals, they have history together; the two teams competed at the Gouna Championship. Being the champions from last season, the Eagles were stressed about the importance of winning the game even though it was a friendly match; beating Manor House would be the right motivational start to the season.
Gouna Championship, also known as the Road to the States by AIMZ Egypt, is the perfect opportunity for athletes to earn a scholarship in the United States. As a matter of fact, one of NIS’ own, Mohammed Sheriff Hathot, was granted the scholarship two years ago (NISians always making the school proud).
The team’s strategy was different this time, mixing new comers with returning players; united they plan to reach victory one game at a time. The aim of this strategy is testing their skills, ability to work together and to prepare them for games future; everyone believed in the team but with the new tactics and having only two practice sessions fingers were crossed.
Operations Director, Mr. Khaled Kamel, emphasized on the importance of preparing the players psychologically, mental well-being is just as imperative as physical fitness and preparation. Motivation is key to victory and for that reason Kamel always tells the players, “once a champ, always a champ!”
Best of luck to the Eagles, may they enjoy victories in their coming matches; GO, GO, EAGLES!
