The NIS family is mourning the loss of one of its own; a son, a friend, a brother and an inspiration to our community.
On February 7, eleventh grader Karim Ahmed passed away after being hospitalized due to a tragic accident when his bicycle was forced off-road by a driver. He suffered numerous critical injuries and spent a week in the IC Unit at the International Medical Center. News of his passing has left NISians shaken and heartbroken over the loss of a beautiful soul like Karim; family, friends, students and staff are in mourning.
Karim was as an active member at the Sherouk campus and a friend to students at the two other campuses. He was popular and loved by everyone and always there for anyone that needed his help; an active and inspiring member of the NIS family. “We were very sad to hear the news of Karim’s passing; it is a loss for all of us. This is a difficult time for everyone involved and, as a community, we are all here to support each other in coping with what has happened. In loving memory of Karim, the Sherouk campus library will be named after him,” expressed NIS Superintendent of International Schools, Dr. Fadia Atef.
Funeral prayers and burial took place on Friday, February 8; friends and teachers came together in support of the family during these hard times. Prayers have been shared and posts have continued to go viral on social media, asking everyone to pray for Karim and his family.
From all of us, here at NIS Today, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends, may his soul Rest in Peace. Karim will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. We ask of everyone to keep sending support, prayers and love.
