As a school, NIS does not only focus on nurturing the academic side of its students; it is also essential to support and encourage their artistic talents. It has been proven that art plays an important role in the development of children and allows them, as well as adolescents and adults, to cope and interact with the world around them.
For that exact reason, Elementary School Art Teacher, Ms. Noran Amr, has organized the Elementary Art Exhibition for the second year in a row. Students from the first up until the fifth grade displayed their work around the school. The event allowed students, staff and parents to embark on an artistic journey into the imagination and talent of each exhibitor.
The exhibition was divided into ten different sections. Some sections reflected certain social studies topics such as the Stone Age and The Chinese civilization. Other sections showed the young students’ understanding of abstract art, surrealism, and Islamic art. There were also sections that were inspired by the work of famous artists from all around the world. Every artist needs a muse and NIS artists used Picasso, Von Gogh, Monét and Da Vinci as their own.
The NIS community showed its support by walking around the exhibition and enjoying the masterpieces. Amr has taken it upon herself to continue nurturing the talents of the upcoming generations and making NIS a home for their art. We definitely can’t wait until next year’s exhibition.
